Spinning Silver Sphere (2007): Run length: 49 seconds Summary: A spinning silver sphere glides through a dark futuristic city and into a large tower, accompanied by synth/percussion music. The visual elements were created in POVRay. Comments: Usually I divide my "longer" POVRay animation projects into several more-or-less equal sized subportions which I then render separately and combine, but this time it worked out fairly well to just do everything in one big render (except the intial camera zoom-in which I did render separately as an afterthought). The only down side was that it was a fairly long render (over two hours on my computer), which had to be done several times as the project went through multiple revisions. Still it was probably more efficient to do it that way than to it would have been to re-render multiple parts separately, at least for changes that would need to be made in all of the subportions. As usual, I put the music together in Cakewalk Sonar, using a variety of synth and sample library instruments. I also added the sound of me tapping on a metal lampshade in a few spots.
